We all know who Rizal is, but do we know what would happen if we got trapped in their time? Well, let's just say that knowing the young Rizal in personal will be a great experience to learn something new.
Last January 18 was our trip to Assumpta Theater, we were there to watch Batang Rizal. When we were at the venue it took a long time before we went inside the theater. The theater is big, and it has many floors which is really suited for plays, and what is best in the theater is, it is very cold and the chairs are comfortable.
Minutes later, the play started. The entrance was good, an eye-catching scene, then the story moves on. That time, the mayor in the story built a "bantayog" or in english a statue of the Philippine National Hero, Jose Rizal. The bantayog was unfornately broken by Pepe, which is one of the most unlucky students and also the one bullied, and made a big trouble. The mayor went an outrage after knowing it, he was mad, really mad. The mayor has the funny role, maybe he is the one who gets the attention of the audiences within the play.
When Pepe was still troubled, he was stuck in the past because of a book. The appearance of the surroundings was different, it looked classic, like an old style. There he met three women who happened to be Jose Rizal's sisters, and there he was mistaken to be Jose Rizal because of their similar appearance. After, Jose came and told the story of "The Monkey and the Turtle", which was one of Jose's famous writing.
Pepe was totally confused, he doesn't know how he came on that place, and met Jose. Pepe was really amazed seeing the HERO they only see in pictures. There, he promised that Pepe would take Jose to their time where he is the one they call a HERO.
After they came back to Pepe's time they met the group of bullies in their school. They were chased and bullied, but the problem of the broken bantayog isn't done yet, and that is the time were they agreed to cooperate with each other and be friends. All in all their plan went great and solved their problem about the bantayog, then Jose came back to his own time safely. The end.
The play was great and interesting to watch, but sometimes I really felt sleepy and maybe took a very short nap, which is really funny. The story is great! The writers really did a good job on the script and the scenes. And the most important is the lesson, it really showed that everyone of us has its own capabilities, even the dumbest person has its own best.
